How to Join?

Before seeking membership in any of the 44 organizations in our Greek Community, ask the following:

  • What are the guiding principles of the organization?
  • What is the fraternity or sorority looking for in an ideal member?
  • What is expected of active members?
  • How long is the new member program and what is the time requirement? What are the expectations of new members?
  • How much emphasis does the chapter place on scholarship, and are there any type of scholarship programs offered by the chapter?
  • What leadership opportunities are available for me?
  • What is their philanthropy and how has the chapter contributed?
  • What are the community service requirements for members?
  • What activities does the organization participate in or sponsor?
  • How involved is the chapter with student government and other student organizations
  • How will this fraternity or sorority benefit me?
  • How much does it cost to be involved with the fraternity/sorority?

Becoming a member of a Fraternity or Sorority is really quite easy. Each council holds recruitment events where you can come out, meet new friends, and enjoy new experiences.

Fraternities and Sororities can help you find your place on campus - quite simply, they are a home away from home. They offer academic assistance and support; they encourage you to participate in many varied campus activities and other organizations that will further enrich your life and collegiate experience; they open the doors of opportunity for campus leadership and networking with alumni upon graduation; they help you develop strong social skills and give you the opportunity to create life-long friendships with similar interests and goals/ambitions; they foster educational awareness of current social and at-hand issues in the world.
